Breathe

There are 5 pieces of this design, each one representing the first 5 breaths of this book. 

Breathe is made with an artwork created in 2023 with acrylic and sand on canvas. This marked the beginning of my exploration with Earth and dirt and the ways our lives and bodies move through cycles; an ever present rhythm. 

The journey of this piece is a physical artwork rendered into a digital file and printed onto deadstock* polyester chiffon fabric.  

Each piece has the word 'Breathe' hand-embroidered onto it, a reminder that we breathe together, connecting you to each person who comes to own this piece.

*Fabric Note: Saevā's Saris are made using exclusively deadstock fabric as a way of giving beautiful pre-existing textiles a longer life in your hands and homes.

This is unused fabric sourced across the fashion and textile industry, including from designers, fashion houses and clothing manufacturers. 

While all care is given to the creation of each Sari, the journey these textiles means that there will occasionally be small pulls and marks on the fabric that cannot be removed,  changed or incorporated into the design. 

At Saevā, we think of these as the beauty marks of choosing more sustainable options in caretaking and stewardship of our Earth.
